We are on the search for a Brisbane-based Data Engineer to join our client’s diverse and fast-growing team based around the globe from San Francisco, Australia to the UK!

Our client owns an asset analysis platform with impressive technology used by investment teams across the globe. Their clients include top-tier investment firms, including some of the world’s leading asset managers, private wealth managers and pension funds.

As the Data Engineer you will work alongside the Investment Engineering team and will be involved in data automation and process development supporting the portfolio design and quantitative risk modelling tools. This role sits between the engineering and client business teams. On a day-to-day basis, you will be involved in developing python integrations with external data vendors, quantitative financial modelling, and interfacing with clients and prospects.

The Role:

  • Integration of external data sources using various technologies based on a Python-oriented tech stack
  • Building and maintaining monitoring tools to ensure extract-transform-load processes are up-to-date and consistently loading complete data
  • Working closely with the investment engineering team to design appropriate internal data models to facilitate multi-asset class modelling within the platform
  • Development of multi-asset class tools to assist in institutional multi-asset portfolio design and risk analysis
  • Contribute to the business development and client management processes by presenting specific platform functions

Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, computer science, engineering, mathematics, or a related discipline
  • 1-3 years of experience in a similar role
  • Engineering/coding knowledge and experience in Python
  • Experience using and developing API’s
  • Experience with Python packages including Pandas and NumPy, and frameworks such as Apache Airflow
  • An understanding of financial modelling and quantitative techniques
  • Experience with financial data sets and software engineering functions

Brownie Points:

  • An understanding of asynchronous/multi-processing programming in Python
  • Experience in investment management

Salary:

Up to $110k + super (commensurate with experience)
