We are thrilled to team up with the team at EdTech growth startup, Teach Starter, to find a superstar Head of Product to lead their Product team!

This is a full-time, hybrid position based in Brisbane.

This is a hands-on strategic role with the opportunity to drive growth in Australia, and unlock global scale while positively and meaningfully impacting the lives of teachers.

So let’s tell you about the role…

As the Head of Product, you will lead the product management and product design functions to enhance the Teach Starter library experience and platform. You will establish a compelling product vision and strategy and develop a clear roadmap to deliver on company objectives. You will cultivate and codify highly effective product development methodology from discovery to delivery to enable customer-centric outcomes and you will oversee the funnel from SEO through to conversion, engagement, and retention to drive bottom-line performance.

About You:

  • You are a People and Product Leader – you’ll grow a cross-functional product team who are passionate about doing their best work and delivering product-led growth
  • You are a Strategic Visionary – you’ll be responsible for driving the product strategy that delivers platform and user growth
  • You are Collaborative – you will ensure the best results are delivered through a decisive team-based approach
  • You love tackling big challenges by coming up with creative and innovative solutions
  • You have a genuine interest in education
  • You have strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • You have strong analytical skills with the ability to assimilate information quickly

The Role:

  • People Leadership – Manage and develop the product managers and designers to help them do their best work and have fun doing it.
  • Product Vision & Strategy – Develop the product vision for Teach Starter, and the strategy to execute for the greatest impact and growth.
  • Collaboration – You’ll ensure all voices are heard when developing proposals and solutions. Importantly, you’ll be able to do that, and move forward decisively, not by committee.
  • Product Led Growth – Develop product marketing strategies and communications to drive attraction, manage pricing and subscriptions to encourage conversion and lead the funnel management of Teach Starter with data and analytics to support your decision making.
  • Teachers and Students – Deeply understand the challenges faced by teachers and students, conducting qualitative and quantitative research, working with our content, marketing, and analytics teams to gain a shared understanding of our key pain points and differentiators.
  • Delivery Roadmap – Manage the product and engineering workstreams underway along with the Head of Engineering and provide the business with a clear view of work in progress, decision making processes and prioritisation.
  • Thought Leadership – Be the foremost product thinker at Teach Starter, across the latest developments, trends, and market opportunities to drive growth and innovation
  • Dependency Management – Reduce and mitigate inter workstream dependencies, removing blockers and escalating or resolving problems

Experience:

  • 5+ years of Senior Product Management / Head of Product equivalent experience (ideally at an education or technology start-up)
  • Proven experience developing and leading high-performance teams to achieve great outcomes
  • Success in developing and scaling subscription-based products that customers love
  • Demonstrable experience in driving growth through product marketing and funnel optimisation (ideally including SEO)
  • Experience managing and delivering change in complex and ambitious environments
  • Track record of contributing to organisational growth by proposing new initiatives and ensuring the right people and right projects are in place to achieve results
  • You have a deep understanding of user experience, research, design, experimentation, analytics and agile frameworks/systems
  • A portfolio that showcases your ability to solve complex UX problems with simple UI
  • Basic knowledge of full stack software engineering (Front end, Back end, DevOps)
  • Strong stakeholder management experience with the ability to build and maintain strong and effective relationships and influence decision-making at all levels
  • The ability to balance user value proposition with business needs
