Reporting to the Engineering Manager, this role is for the curious, problem solving, lifelong learner who is comfortable in and has a passion for creating beautiful client-side experiences. So let’s tell you about the role…

As a Full Stack Software Engineer you will contribute to the development of our client’s website as well as various other widgets, publishing tools, and portals that they maintain. If you love working in Vue.js + Nuxt.js (or similar) for frontend, and also Node.js microservices, all while building a product you believe in, then we’d love to speak with you.

About You:

  • You have strong front end experience in either Vue.js or React.js and preferably SSR technology such as Nuxt.js or Next.js
  • You have strong experience in Node.js and working in Cloud environments
  • You are moving towards a future role as a Tech Lead or Team Lead
  • You are dedicated to your own continuous learning and development as technology is forever changing

The Role:

Here’s a sneak peek at your day-to-day:

  • Collaborate with a small and nimble team of Brisbane-based engineers to design, build, and maintain a new platform which will scale to support Teach Starter’s strategy and rapid growth
  • Work closely with Product, UX, Analytics, and Marketing counterparts to understand users’ problems and in turn build and deliver purposeful technical solutions which meaningfully address users needs
  • Utilise a wide range of technologies, including, TypeScript, JavaScript, Node.js, Vue.js, Nuxt.js to craft a scalable and performant platform for Teach Starter’s product experiences
  • Be able to take initiative, and do research to determine the best technology fit to solve customer problems.
  • Take part in code reviews and share knowledge with the rest of the team to support an environment of continuous learning
  • Be mindful of new tools, technologies, and frameworks to help scale Teach Starter’s stack and help us achieve their goals more efficiently


  • Developed skills with a range of programming languages and frameworks, including TypeScript/JavaScript, Node.js, Vue.js, and Nuxt.js (or similar)
  • 5+ years of commercial experience developing complex web applications
  • Experience in both frontend and backend
  • Previous experience in PHP/WordPress would be beneficial as that is the base of Teach Starter’s legacy stack
  • Strong knowledge of SQL and/or NoSQL databases such as MySQL and MongoDB
  • Commercial experience developing complex web applications
  • Commercial experience working with cloud providers such as AWS or GCP
  • Production experience in Docker and Kubernetes (or similar) would be a plus
  • DevOps experience in writing Infrastructure as Code, using tools like Terraform would be beneficial
