We are thrilled to team up with the team at EdTech growth startup, Teach Starter, to find them their SEO Lead to join the cross-functional team spanning Australia & the US! We are in search of a strategic, entrepreneurial and inquisitive SEO Manager to join Teach Starter’s team.

This is a full-time, hybrid position based in Brisbane at their beautiful office in Milton! However, for the right candidate based elsewhere in Australia, this could be a fully remote role with the odd trip to Brisbane to be with the team.

Teach Starter’s diverse and highly skilled team balances fast-paced entrepreneurialism with grounded pragmatism in order to build with scalability and sustainably. They call it “a start-up without the grind”.

The SEO Lead will drive global growth of Teach Starter’s SEO distribution to enable more teachers to find and choose Teach Starter. They will partner with cross functional teams to
drive all aspects of Teach Starters SEO strategy including information architecture, technical implementation and content strategy.

This is a pivotal hands-on role with ample potential to impact the company’s scalability and growth.

The Role:

Here’s a sneak peek at your day-to-day:

  • Identify and advance strategic and tactical opportunities to continuously improve SEO rank and traffic
  • Define and manage the SEO roadmap to prioritise and drive cross-functional execution to deliver on SEO rank and traffic goals
  • Evangelise SEO across the company to establish shared understanding and ownership of the factors which drive SEO outcomes
  • Stay abreast of SEO industry developments and competitor performance to aggressively uncover and execute on emerging opportunities
  • Partner with product and UX counterparts to systematically improve Teach Starter’s information architecture and content navigation patterns in order to accelerate indexation and rankings
  • Advise editorial teams on SEO best practice and strategies to maximise the value of Teach Starter content
  • Monitor, analyse and report SEO performance indicators to inform SEO initiatives and drive company wide understanding of SEO drivers
  • Routinely audit (via crawls, and external tools) content and technical implementation to identify opportunities to improve SEO outcomes
  • Define technical requirements and validate implementation of to ensure successful integration of SEO best practice

Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience driving SEO strategy and execution for enterprise websites with demonstrated success delivering SEO traffic growth at scale (bold, underlined and italicised for dramatic effect – we are talking north of 40,000 pages).
  • Extensive experience working with large scale content websites with complex information architecture
  • Experience driving SEO strategy through research and experimentation
  • Previous experience supporting a performance marketing team a plus
  • Expert user of SEO tools including Google Search Console, SEMrush, Ahrefs, Screaming Frog (or similar).
  • Analytical mindset and web analytics know-how – advanced knowledge of web analytics tools including Google Analytics, Amplitude, Google Data Studio (or similar)
  • Extensive knowledge of current and emerging SEO best practice, especially on-site technical implementation
  • Past success leading large scale projects and migrations
  • Ability to translate complex SEO considerations for non-SEO stakeholders
  • Professional written and verbal communications skills, and a proven ability to influence a diverse group of non-SEO stakeholders
