The Client

Hunt & Co. were recently engaged to recruit a Digital Director for an iconic Queensland brand with a fantastic reputation. This much-loved B2C business has the best of both worlds in terms of leveraging all the agency resources required, as well as remaining a small business (that isn’t a small business in terms of a customer base!) We were excited to partner with them to secure this hard-to-find and technically-complex role.

The Role

This role was complex as it required a candidate that had a contemporary understanding of digital design and eCommerce, whilst also understanding the challenges of engaging with state government and larger legacy systems that may require re-platforming. The Hunt & Co. team deeply understood the intricacies of this role having placed the original Digital Director some years earlier. Now that the original Digital Director was moving up and into a new role, our client knew that the Hunt & Co. team was a safe pair of hands to entrust with this role again.

The Process

At Hunt & Co. HQ, we began the recruitment process by creating an avatar of the ideal candidate and mapping the market, identifying candidates that had both local, state and federal government experience in combination with eCommerce and more modern digital and human-centred experiences. After identifying a number of candidates on our database and externally within the industry that aligned to the candidate avatar, we began reaching out to these candidates. We wanted to not only gauge their interest in the role but also assess their potential culture fit and understand their own career needs.

In total, five candidates were advanced to an in-depth internal interview with the Hunt & Co. team, with three shortlisted candidates then presented to the client. Following this, two candidates progressed to a client interview with the company’s Managing Director, with one candidate securing a successful second stage interview and the opportunity to meet the team.

By being deliberate and front-loading the talent acquisition process, we were able to take a lot of the heavy lifting and gruelling tasks of hiring off the Managing Director’s very full plate allowing them to do what they do best… running their company!

The Result

Success! After the team meet and greet, the candidate was offered the role, accepted the role and started six weeks later in the role of Digital Director. It took four weeks from client briefing to role placement.
